Windsor Locks Police Union - conduct a Fundraising Event
To the residents and business owners of the Town of Windsor Locks.
The Windsor Locks Police Union, I.B.P.O Local #523 is currently conducting a fundraising event.
Letters have been mailed to all local residents and businesses requesting a donation to the WLPD Union.
During the course of the year, the Windsor Locks Police Union supports our schools and students along with many local organizations.
We currently support the following organizations, the Windsor Locks Little League, the Windsor Locks High School “Project Graduation”, WLHS Shattered Dreams, the Nutmeg Music Festival,
The Windsor Locks Lions Club, the Windsor Locks Legion Baseball Team, The Officer Joseph O’Brien Scholarship, and the WLMS DARE Program, just to name a few.
We do not use the services of paid solicitors, therefore the mailer that you receive at your home or business is the only request you will receive from our organization and there will be NO PHONE SOLICITATIONS.
If you are interested in donating to our cause, please use the enclosed envelope to pay by check, or money order. All donations should be mailed to the Windsor Locks Police Union 4 Volunteer Drive Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
Our major donation that we would like to make is to the Windsor Locks High School Athletic Department. Back in 2001, a severe storm knocked over and destroyed the press box at the football field that was originally built by an Eagle Scout from the Town of Windsor Locks.
Since then, games have been called, reported, filmed on the sidelines, outside in the elements of mother nature without any cover from wind, rain etc.
We would like to donate the cost of the materials to build a new press box which will accommodate our staff’s needs.
This building will hopefully last for many years to enjoy as well as being a building that was constructed with the assistance of our community and my fellow brother and sister officers of the Windsor Locks Police Department.
We thank you in advance for your continued support;
Promotions continue at Windsor Locks Police Department
July 10, 2013
The Windsor Locks Police Department continued its efforts to improve command structure Wednesday when it presented the promotion of two department members to the police commission.
The commission voted to approve the promotion of Sergeant Clifford Smith to Lieutenant and Officer Sebastian Garofalo to Sergeant.
"Both of these men have the respect of the community, the commission and their peers. They are both going to have a large role in the restructuring and revitalizing the police department," Police Commission Chair Kevin Brace said of the two men who are lifelong friends, having grown up together in Hartford.
"It is really fantastic that they were both promoted on the same night," added Brace.
Garofalo and Smith have eight and nine years on the force in Windsor Locks, respectively.
According to a report presented by Police Chief Eric Osanitsch, the promotions leave two vacant sergeant positions in the department.
Candidates for those two positions, Osanitsch said, will likely be presented to the commission for approval by the commission meeting in August.
